Year 3 - Day 181 - June 29

Today is our 4th anniversary. I got flowers!

Then for dinner, we used our Melting Pot gift card. They have changed a little since we were there last. The meals have gotten slightly larger and believe it or not, slightly cheaper.

It used to cost an arm and a leg to go to Melting Pot which is why we rarely go. But tonight, we got this dish for 2 (we swapped food so he could have my shrimp and I could have something that used to walk on land) plus cheese plus a salad for just $30 a person. That's much more reasonable than before. I also like the new white dishes - much nicer than the old metal style.

Year 3 - Day 74 - March 14

This mild weather has kept the daffodils out for SO LONG! They've been out for weeks, and some are still just getting started. I love it!

Year 2 - Day 179 - June 29

Today's our third anniversary. We exchanged gifts a couple weeks ago but he did bring me flowers today. Turns out the random golf club in the kitchen is related to his anniversary gift. He learned a new grip from the golf pro last week and was practicing the partial swing in the middle of the house. Hopefully the cat stayed out of the way. ;)

Year 2 - Day 157 - June 7

My multi colored zinneas (spelling?) are thriving. I'm impressed with how much they've been blooming, even through the heat wave. Some days they have to be watered both morning and afternoon, but they perk right back up. It's amazing ... they are so puny and sad looking when I get home and 20 minutes later, post-water, they perk back up. Kind of a visual reminder of why it's healthy to drink water, I suppose!

Year 2 - Day 147 - May 28

Mike got me these roses yesterday at Wegmans, and we put them in one of our nice vases for the party today. The yellow one opened until it was bigger than my hand! I love when flowers do that and don't fall apart completely.

Year 2 - Day 86 - March 28

My lovely husband had lunch at Wegmans on Friday and picked these up for me while he was there.  I love Wegmans roses!  They stay pretty for a really long time and they come in a bunch of different colors.

Year 2 - Day 73 - March 14

Spotted in our flower bed this afternoon.  A very tiny but very welcome sign of spring.

Year 2 - Day 71 - March 12

Today, my school sent us flowers. It was an unexpected, lovely surprise.  They've been more than supportive.  My principal called & asked if it was ok to tell, and we got a ton of really nice emails.  Some just saying nice things, and some sharing their stories. It's been nice to get the support.  At the hospital before the procedure, a nurse came in to talk to us and prepare us to get no support at all, so how lovely that I work somewhere that breaks the mold in that way!

Day 227 - August 15

Wegman's flower department is fantastic and super affordable - and my husband takes advantage of those things on a regular basis. :)  These are from Friday afternoon, and they still look great!

Day 160 - June 9

Surprise!!!  We have 10 lily plants.  2 are close enough to death that they didn't flower this year.  7 others bloomed with buttercup yellow flowers.  But today, this one plant bloomed a pinkish purple color.  It was a fun, different surprise.

Day 152 - June 1

Our first lily bloomed today.  The plants were randomly growing out of places in the lawn, so Mike did some transplanting.  We weren't sure what would happen, but now we know at least one is turning into a flower!

Day 107 - April 17

Since we were up bright and early to wait for Comcast today, we went to the farmers market after he left.  We bought one of the variety packs from the beef guy and I can't wait to dig in.  We got 3 lbs of ground beef, 6 hamburgers, a london broil, a couple steaks that I can't remember the name of, and a HUGE roast that will either have to wait for a big family thing or get cooked as more than one thing, because it could feed half of North Dakota.  Plus, we got some coffee cake to eat and bacon to cook for breakfast.  On the way out, we grabbed this beautiful bouquet of tulips and lilacs for just 5 bucks.  Rock on!  We are a ton closer to the market than we used to be, so maybe we'll remember to go more often now.  Last year by the time it was good and yummy fruit time, we weren't around or we were busy on Saturday mornings.  This time of the year it's mostly plants and asparagus (um, yuck) so I'm looking forward to when it's more fresh stuff we'll eat.

Day 43 - February 12

My husband is a smart man.  He bought these roses at Wegmans on Tuesday, for $9.99.  Today when we met over there for lunch, the same roses were $34.99!!!!!!!
