Year 3 - Day 168 - June 16

We stopped at the store to pick up a couple things today and couldn't resist buying these. Tagalong and Samoa Nestle Crunch wafer bars. They were really good. However, the peanut butter one tasted just like the Tastycake or whatever brand makes the standard peanut butter wafer things. Mike said the Samoa one had some good coconut flavor. There was a Thin Mint one too but we didn't get that one. Interesting to note that the mint one was actually called Thin Mint. These two were more generic. I'm guessing that's because no matter where you get your cookies, the mint ones are always Thin Mint. Tagalongs and Samoas have different names in different places. Keep your eye out!

Year 3 - Day 108 - April 17

For Easter, we got a basket full of edible goodies from Mike's parents. You should be very very impressed that at this point, a week later, there are still 3 whole pieces of chocolate in this 8.63 oz bag!

Year 3 - Day 83 - March 23

I went to see Hunger Games tonight with my hubby and his friend. The movie was decent. It's been awhile since I read the books, so I don't know exactly how similar they were, but it seemed to match my mental images. Of course it was crazy and full at the theater! We got there a half hour early with our Fandango tickets, and had to sit in like the 4th row. At dinner before the movie I saw a family of former students that I love and then when they left (for the Hunger Games of course) the family of a current student sat down. Random small world! The best part of going to the movies (which I rarely do) is that I got to have SweetTarts. :) I love them, and I really only have them at the movies!

Year 3 - Day 63 - March 3

Today was the annual Bel Air Chocolate Festival! Neat idea! For our $5 admission fee, we got 4 tasting tickets. You could get more, but we wound up not needing to. Some places gave out samples for free and we left full of sugar before lunch even started. We also ran into someone we knew from stamping which is fun because it makes us feel like we really live here!! :)

Year 3 - Day 59 - February 28

These things used to fascinate me on TV commercials. They were so beautiful. The one time I had one was so sad, because I wanted it to taste as good as it looked! Sadly, they're just not my thing. Mike likes them though, so I grabbed one in line at the checkout. I'd much rather have a mini Hershey bar!

Year 3 - Day 46 - February 15

My Valentine's gift this year was also of the chocolate caramel variety. He works near Greetings & Readings in Hunt Valley, so he stopped at their candy counter. This is a box of chocolate caramels sprinkled with sea salt. Sounds crazy, right? But holy cow are they good. I would have taken a picture of the inside so you could see what they looked like, but I'm embarrassed about how empty the box is just 24 hours in.... ;) He said "oops" when he realized that the price tag was still there, but the price tag made me laugh too - look at the number!

Year 3 - Day 45 - February 14

When you work in an elementary school, it keeps Valentine's Day as this great candy and red shirt holiday. There's much less stress and drama than the romantic comedies of the world would have you believe. My hubby and I don't really do much for this holiday every year, but we try to buy something small for each other. This year, this was my great find at Target. A black, velvety, heart shaped box with a rhinestone Darth Vader. It has a few heart shaped chocolate caramels inside, too. I told him he could keep his special treasures inside after he finishes the candy. :)

Year 3 - Day 6 - January 6

Our friends are here for the night and brought this sugar beast with them.

I know it's hard to tell in the bag, but it's a 5 pound gummy bear!

We finally got to La Tolteca tonight. I always thought Mike wasn't into Mexican food, but I guess I made that up in my head. We enjoyed what we had, but the service was slow. It was ok since we had 4 people and lots of conversation and it wasn't terrible, but it did take awhile for someone to take our order. Also, while we were waiting for a table, we sat at the bar. They all had a beer and I had a soda and our bill was 29 dollars. We knew that couldn't be right, but they use a calculator rather than cash register to do the math and she hit the wrong button. Good thing Kadie checked the receipt because our bill was really supposed to be 10 dollars!

Year 2 - Day 314 - November 1

Last year, we had 50 pieces of candy and we ran out. This year, we had 80 pieces and we have a ton left over. We were careful when handing out though, so we have a nice selection left over. :) Have you had peanut butter Snickers? They are fantastic!!

Year 2 - Day 293 - October 21

We spent our evening meandering around at the boardwalk. It messes with my head to visit the OC boardwalk because my brain still puts all the Seaside boardwalk attractions where they belong and the OC ones don't match! :)

On another note, can you believe the size of these candy buttons?!!?!

Year 2 - Day 230 - August 19

I'm not sure where the tradition of M&M's in a bowl on our end table started, but I support it. To celebrate, I had some for breakfast. :) What better way to start a Friday?!

Year 2 - Day 82 - March 24

Reese's Eggs.  Yum.  I bought a bag of these the same night I bought my hair dryer at Target.  These are the last 4...

Day 239 - August 27

Both Mike & I prefer Sour Patch Kids to regular fruit snacks.  Last year, we were excited because we found 100 Calorie packs at the grocery store and BJ's!  We stopped buying them though because they were way more expensive than they should be.  We lucked out on this BJ's trip though because they had the Halloween candy out.  You see, to make 100 Calorie packs, they make the food tiny.  Mini Doritos, Mini Ritz snacks, and indeed, Mini Sour Patch Kids.  I guess because they're different and small, they can charge you double. These Halloween bags were 1/2 the price per ounce as the 100 Calorie packs!!  The only downside is that they're regular sized pieces, so there are about 5 in each pack.

All week, I reached in and grabbed a bag of Sweedish Fish. (It's a variety pack.) I don't particularly love them, but I figured I'd eventually get to a SPK.  That is - until I realized that Mike always throws the fish back if that's what he pulls out.  No wonder I never get the good stuff!

Day 235 - August 23

Today, we had a breakfast provided at work ... and then we got these goody bags.

Definitely makes a rainy Monday a little better!!

Day 110 - April 20

Last Easter, I missed out on Starburst jellybeans because of biggest loser.  This Easter, I was still on the food restrictions for my bladder.  By the time I was released, I couldn't find any!  I bought these Lifesavers ones instead.  The white ones are pretty good, but I'm one of the weirdos that thinks white lifesavers are good. :)  I'm more into standard flavors than the tropical style.  Next Easter, I am buying in bulk! :)

Day 69 - March 10

May I present, my junk food of choice.  These are made of sugar and peppermint oil, 2 things I'm allowed to have in whatever quantity I desire.  They have become my snack & dessert.  They're softer than the regular starlight mints you get at a restaurant, but harder than I thought they'd be.  And it was about $5 for a billion of them at BJ's, so I won't run out any time soon!
