Crafting Fail

Now that we have all the stuff in the nursery, I've been starting to work on the decorations. We have 2 things already, one from my mom and one from a friend. I have had the plan for the last 3 in motion since November, but needed some down time to work on it. We had friends in town from yesterday til today, but I did several hours of prep work yesterday and then about 6 hours today after they left.

And I ruined almost all of my work on the last step. :(

I made a paper craft, and it looked awesome. Even Mike was oohing and ahhing over it. The last step was to stick all 3 pictures to the 12x12 canvases that I bought. I used Mod Podge, as I have for many other things. But because some of the colors of paper I used were brandex, the mod podge saturated it which made it stretch out and then made it bumpy and ugly. So my 4 hours of cutting and taping and my hour of painting the canvas are down the drain. ARGH.

I'm just going to re-cut all the papers tomorrow, so that I only have to re-do the 4 hours of labor. The 3 hours I spent on the pattern yesterday aren't wasted because at least I can re-create it. Then I'll just frame the damn things instead of putting them on the canvas. Even though that was going to be the best part. I am so annoyed at myself!!! :(

Super Hydration!

Due to my exciting morning in L&D (http://jlsh935.blogspot.com/2013/02/first-real-trip-to-l.html) I have spent today drinking a lot of water and Gatorade.

And eating Red Velvet White Chocolate Chip cookies from my friend, but that was just for fun.

One bonus of accidentally being home today is that I got to watch the live stream of the the Knot.com's Dream Wedding and see my friend and her mom in the audience. (They were there as relatives!) I also took a nap and watched some things on the DVR. Hubby stayed home with me after I got released even though I told him he could go back to work. I feel bad because he found out he was supposed to have his surprise work baby shower today. Bummer for him!

One upside of today's event is that the doc did everything in triage that he would have done at tonight's appointment, so I didn't have to go back at 4pm. Small bonuses!

The second draft of my book is in the hands of the editor now and I'm just waiting to see what the next step is and what else needs tweaking. I love the idea of editors because they exist to help me make things better!

Baby wise, we pretty much have everything we need except a baby. A couple things are in the mail still that we purchased with gift cards online, but other than that we are as ready as we'll ever be. The glider does need to be assembled at some point but it's in the building. The crib skirt material has been purchased but it's still in a bag. That's on my list but not my super important list.

The boys are supposed to jump out of a plane on Saturday, but now they're anticipating our next weather event to hit at that time. They're running out of time for that because the groupons expire soon!

Couch Day

I have been on the couch ALL day. This time not for physical reasons, just because I had nowhere else to go today. I've been working on the book and taking mental breaks to play Sugar Candy Crush and all its friends. Very exciting, I tell you.

The current non-event status of the baby growing has led to much less frequent updating of that blog, too.
